3+ hour audio journey of what I've been into lately. It's a soundtrack for everything but training. So much variety. Put it on and dig in.
I tried to do my 14 favorite songs of 2014 but after much painful editing I ended up with 30. Here's my top 30 tracks of 2014! If you feel like any have been unfairly overlooked, comment below! This is a democracy afterall. Happy New Year, Team Nonstop!!!
This week there are a few notable tracks on my radar. First up, a new release from my friend and fellow New York singer/songwriter Megan Vice. This funk goddess brings an eerie 90's-pop vibe to her new single, Ghost. Diplo, Kiesza, and Skrillex collaborated on my next pick with Take Ü There. The drop is super weird. Totally unexpected and I'm still warming up to it. I want to hear your reactions to this one: Love it? Hate it? The last track, a new release from Whilk and Misky, could be a soundtrack for a HipHop western. Heavy.
I can't stop watching. Tanks, tear gas, curfews, arrests. Last night, 78 people were arrested. Of the 78, all but three were arrested for refusing to disperse. And now just learning that another young man, 23 years old, brandishing a knife has just been gunned down and killed by two officers. If you haven't been watching, it's time to take notice. The events in Ferguson, although sparked by the death of Michael Brown, are a result of long standing racial tension and oppression. This could be any town.
I started making this playlist last week after I realized that Metal Ghost could be considered depressing. I didn't think so. But to counter it, I gathered a small number of tunes that put a smile on my face (and hopefully yours)! Special shout out to my friend Josh who recently had a gnarly crash on his bike. Being out-of-commission in the summer can suck hard, my friend, so I named this one for you: Feel Better. Have a little dance party in bed!
